The villagers from Kars planted a Turkish flag on Mount Karakuzu, which is located at an altitude of 2,500 meters near the Armenian border. Cafer Balcı, the President of the Istanbul Association of İncedere village, stated that their 20-year dream has come true, saying, "Our purpose in planting this flag here is to ensure that our children remain more loyal to their homeland and nation as they see this flag."
As a result of the efforts of Ömer Koral, the village headman of İncedere village in the Akyaka district of Kars, a flag was raised on Karakuzu Mountain. The flag, which the villagers have dreamed of for about 20 years, was brought to İncedere village with a 15-meter flagpole with a pulley system, a 6-meter flag, and other materials through the initiatives of Cafer Balcı, the President of the Istanbul Association of İncedere village, and the association's management.
Later, the villagers transported the flagpole materials to Karakuzu Mountain using tractors. With the work done here, the flagpole was first erected. Then, lighting systems were installed. With the lighting system they created, the villagers ensured that the Turkish flag waving in the border area could be clearly seen at night.
"OUR 20-YEAR DREAM HAS COME TO AN END"
Cafer Balcı, the President of the Istanbul Association of İncedere village, expressed that they have been planning to raise a flag on Karakuzu Mountain, which is 2,500 meters high, for about 20 years, saying, "We realized our 20-year dream by raising our flag at the top of Karakuzu Mountain, which is at an altitude of 2,500 meters. We love our flag very much. I would like to thank the youth of my village and the people of my village who helped me. Our aim in raising this flag here is for our children to be more loyal to their homeland and nation as they see this flag. We raised this flag to set an example for them. This flag is an honor for us. The color of the Turkish flag comes from the blood of martyrs," he said.
ALSO VISIBLE IN ARMENIA
On the other hand, the Turkish flag raised on Karakuzu Mountain in İncedere village is also visible in Armenia. With the flag raised by the villagers in the border area, the 20-year longing has also come to an end. Additionally, the mountain's name remains Karakuzu Mountain due to Halit Pasha referring to his order officer as "Karakuzum" and the order officer being martyred on this mountain.
