The critical meeting held under the chairmanship of the Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel, which addressed a possible visit to İmralı, has concluded. Approximately three hours of discussions took place at the party's headquarters, with CHP members of parliament who are part of the process commission also present.
During the meeting, it was decided that the issue of visiting İmralı would continue to be evaluated by the party's authorized bodies. However, no definitive decision was made; the final decision regarding İmralı will come from the Central Executive Board (MYK).
A STATEMENT WILL BE MADE TOMORROW
CHP sources indicate that the final statement regarding the matter will be made tomorrow (November 21). Following the meeting where the opinions of the party's commission members were discussed, it is stated that contacts within the CHP are ongoing, and the decision will be clarified after extensive consultations.
WHAT HAPPENED?
MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli reiterated his call during his party's group meeting, saying, "The commission should go to İmralı," and stated, "If no one goes, I will take three of my friends with me; I will not hesitate to go to İmralı with my own means and meet face to face at a table."
The National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democracy Commission, which will meet for the 18th time tomorrow, will vote on the İmralı visit. If the commission decides 'yes', the visit will not be conducted by the entire commission but by a designated delegation.
