A 68-year-old man, M. Yunus, was attacked by a crocodile while swimming in the Peureulak River on August 29th. After the incident, only his clothes and phone were found on the riverbank. His 64-year-old wife, Dimyam, became worried when her husband didn't return home after a few hours. When she went to the river, she found his belongings on the shore, but there were no signs of his body. She then asked for help from their family in the village and called the police. Rescue teams found his lifeless body the next day, about one and a half kilometers downstream from where his clothes were found. Only the lower part of M. Yunus' body was found entangled in a tree branch. His upper body, head, and arms were not found. The police suspect that half of the man's body was torn apart by a crocodile lurking in the water. Local farmers said that they saw a crocodile on the same riverbank on August 31st and believed it could be the predator that attacked the grandfather. They mentioned that the crocodile was lying motionless on the edge of a palm oil plantation. Abdullah, a resident of the area, said, "We thought it was the crocodile that attacked Yunus, so we cut open its stomach, but we couldn't find any part of a human body inside. People from Bhom Lama and Paya Meuligo villages are now worried and afraid to engage in their daily activities around the river."
