It has been claimed that Koray Aydın, the Ankara MP who resigned from the İYİ Party 16 months ago, will join the CHP in the coming days. It was reported that Aydın, who is in the decision-making phase, has been gauging the reactions to his potential move and has been asking, "Will I face backlash if I switch to the CHP?"

Koray Aydın, who held meetings with the Key Party and did not accept the offer made to him, is claimed to have had positive progress in the meetings with the CHP administration.

WHO IS KORAY AYDIN?

Koray Aydın was born on December 5, 1955, in Trabzon. He is from the Özdil village of Yomra district in Trabzon. He completed his primary and secondary education in various parts of Anatolia due to his father Halil İbrahim Aydın's job. He graduated from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Karadeniz Technical University Faculty of Mechanical-Electric in 1978.

Having entered politics at an early age, Aydın served as the Minister of Public Works and Settlement between 1999 and 2001. He also held the position of General Secretary of the Nationalist Movement Party for a while. After the June 2015 general elections in Turkey, he was elected as the Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.

He entered the parliament as a Trabzon deputy between 1991-1995, as an Ankara deputy between 1999-2002, and again as a Trabzon deputy between 2007-2015. He lost his seat in the parliament in the November 2015 general elections in Turkey. Although he competed with Devlet Bahçeli for the leadership in the 10th Grand Ordinary Congress of the Nationalist Movement Party held in 2012, he lost.

In 2015, he announced his candidacy for the General Presidency during the Extraordinary Congress process requested by the MHP Upper Board Delegates. He joined the IYI Party, which was established on October 25, 2017, and was a member of the founding board of the party.
