New details have emerged regarding the massacre night in the Edremit district of Balıkesir. It has been learned that Mustafa Emlik, a prison escapee who killed three people, became close to his friend's girlfriend, and after his friend disapproved of this relationship, he took drugs and carried out the massacre.
Details have emerged regarding the incident in Balıkesir where prison escapee Mustafa Emlik killed 2 people and injured 7 others. It has been revealed that the attacker, who committed the murders under the influence of drugs, had another massacre as his main target.
WANTED AS A FUGITIVE
According to a report in Sabah; Mustafa Emlik, who worked at a car wash in Silivri, Istanbul, stabbed his boss Kenan B. 13 times over a dispute regarding 500 lira during an argument in 2013. Emlik was arrested and sent to prison, where he was sentenced to 8 years and 9 months in prison for attempted murder. Emlik, who was also involved in an injury incident in prison and had a total of 20 years of confirmed prison sentences, was released from an open prison during the pandemic and never returned to prison.
HE SET OUT FOR A MASSACRE
Mustafa Emlik, who settled in Balıkesir, became close to his friend Doğan Can's sister last year. However, Doğan Can did not approve of this relationship, and a disagreement arose between them. Allegedly unable to accept this, Emlik set out the night before to commit a massacre. After using drugs for a while, Emlik first stopped and robbed the car of specialist sergeant Kemal Ekri in the Altınkum neighborhood of Edremit, killing Ekri.
HE SHOT THOSE HE ASKED FOR DIRECTIONS
Then, in the Akçay neighborhood, while geology engineer Göktuğ Çalık and Mehil Nergis were chatting in their car, Emlik approached them and asked for identification. He then opened fire. Göktuğ Çalık died at the scene. While escaping in the stolen car, Emlik randomly fired at the surroundings, injuring Rukiye Karakaya in the leg and Volkan Özalp in the neck.
HE HEADED TO HIS MAIN TARGET
Emlik drove to the Güre neighborhood, where his main target, Doğan Can's older sister, lived. The attacker Emlik opened fire on Doğan Can, whom he called over to talk, in the middle of the road. He then went to a shop run by the young girl's ex-boyfriend Ramazan Özbek and severely injured Özbek. The fleeing attacker shot police officer İbrahim Gül in the leg and Ümit Işık in the abdomen while trying to stop him in the Akçay neighborhood. Emlik, who was advancing towards the barricade, was shot in the neck and killed.
ANOTHER MURDER?
Yesterday, the body of 25-year-old Olcay Özdemir was found in an apartment in the İkizçay neighborhood of Edremit. Özdemir's identity was found in the garden. The fact that the murder was committed just 500 meters away from the bloody attack where specialist sergeant Kemal Ekri was killed and his car was robbed raises the question, "Did the attacker Mustafa Emlik kill Olcay Özdemir first for the robbery?" It is believed that the attacker shot real estate agent Özdemir in his garden, and Özdemir entered the house injured and died.
