The case of the woman whose lifeless body was found in a cave in Diyarbakır in 2015 has been reopened by JASAT. With the new facial reconstruction work, it was revealed that the woman was Gülizar Bingöl, a mother of three who had been reported missing, and that she was a victim of murder. A relative named Mehmet Biroğlu, who was taken into custody in connection with the incident and whose DNA matched the DNA collected from the cave, has been arrested.

JASAT TEAMS INITIATED WORK



Upon the instruction of Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor Mustafa Çelenk to re-examine old files related to missing persons and femicides, a study was initiated by the JASAT, Criminal Branch, Çermik District Gendarmerie Command, and Provincial Police Department teams.

FACIAL RECONSTRUCTION WORK WAS DONE



In this context, a facial reconstruction process was carried out on the grave of a woman buried in a cemetery for the unclaimed, whose identity could not be determined, found in the Alacakaya Marble Quarry area of Petekkaya Neighborhood in Çermik district in 2015. Samples taken from the crime scene and the bones in the grave were examined at the Ankara General Directorate of Security Regional Criminal Police Laboratory. The facial reconstruction work determined that the body belonged to Gülizar Bingöl, who had been missing for 10 years.

THE SUSPECT'S DNA MATCHED WITH THE DNA FROM THE CAVE



In the HTS analyses, it was determined that Bingöl was in frequent contact with her relative Mehmet Biroğlu on the date of the incident. Following this, Biroğlu was taken into custody by the teams. The DNA samples obtained from the crime scene matched the samples taken from Biroğlu. After his procedures, Biroğlu was referred to the courthouse and was arrested by the court and sent to prison. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya also announced the solved murder case on his social media account.
