Tofaş CEO Cengiz Elordu announced that the production of the Fiat Egea Sedan, Turkey's most preferred car model, will be concluded by June 2026. The production capacity that will be freed up from the Egea Sedan, which is manufactured at the company's factory in Bursa and exported to over 40 countries, will be utilized for the introduction of a new model.

Tofaş CEO Cengiz Elordu stated in a broadcast where he answered questions from journalist Emre Özpeynirci that the production of the Egea Sedan model, which has reached over 700,000 sales figures since 2015, is coming to an end.

"WE WILL SAY GOODBYE TO EGEA BY 2026"

Regarding the Egea, which holds the title of Turkey's most affordable car, Elordu said, "We will make our decision regarding production in a short time. If an extension decision is made, it will be at most six months. However, we will say goodbye to Egea by 2026."

"CUSTOMER HABITS ARE SHIFTING FROM SEDANS TO SUVs"

Elordu also explained that the gap in the production line will be filled with a new model, stating, "Customer habits are now shifting from sedan models to SUVs. The success of Egea stemmed from offering the right product at the right price.

Achieving 700,000 sales in about 10 years is a significant success within a total production of 1 million 350 thousand. This shows that it is possible to achieve the same success in Turkey with the right model again," he stated.

STRATEGIC TRANSFORMATION TOWARDS THE SUV SEGMENT

Tofaş CEO emphasized that they are planning a strategic transformation focused on customer expectations and oriented towards the SUV segment in the new era.
