U.S. President Donald Trump spoke at the Gaza Peace Summit, where he met with world leaders in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. In his statement, Trump praised Erdoğan and noted that he has always supported him. However, the President of the Greek Cypriot Administration, Nikos Christodoulides, and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis did not applaud Trump's remarks.
Historic agreements were signed at the summit on Gaza in Egypt, attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The USA, Turkey, Qatar, and Egypt signed a letter of intent for peace in Gaza. Before the signing of the document, Trump thanked President Erdoğan, saying, "He never let us down."
TRUMP THANKS ERDOĞAN
Continuing his remarks, Trump addressed President Erdoğan, saying, "His army is much stronger than what he says. If you look at some of the recent processes, he was winning, but he doesn't want any praise. He is a tough guy, but he is my friend and has always been there for me when I needed him. Therefore, I want to thank President Erdoğan."
TWO LEADERS DID NOT APPLAUD
Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis were captured on camera as the two leaders who did not applaud Trump's remarks about Erdoğan.
LEADERS SIGN LETTER OF INTENT FOR GAZA
Later, mediators Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey signed a letter of intent regarding the Gaza ceasefire agreement with U.S. President Donald Trump. Egyptian President Sisi made statements after the signing.
Sisi stated, "The Palestinians have the right to live alongside Israelis in an independent state," and said, "Egypt will host the meeting for the reconstruction of Gaza."
Trump indicated that the years-long war in Gaza has ended, stating, "Now the reconstruction of Gaza will begin." Thanking Erdoğan, Trump said, "We have had a good relationship with Erdoğan from the very beginning. Whenever I needed him, Erdoğan was there." Trump expressed that today is a monumental day for world history beyond the Middle East, stating, "The Third World War will not come from the Middle East."
Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said, "I once again nominate U.S. President Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize." Shahbaz also thanked President Erdoğan for his contributions to peace.
