The owner of a company called ÖSA Güney Tekstil, operating in Mersin, disappeared without paying the three-month salaries and compensation of 180 workers. This incident has caused a major crisis, and one of the affected workers stated, "When a poor person steals, they are called a thief, but when a rich person steals, it is said they went bankrupt. Our government needs to impose sanctions on these people."

The owner of ÖSA Güney Tekstil, operating in the Mersin Free Zone, is alleged to have disappeared without paying the three-month salaries and compensations of the workers, leaving 180 workers unemployed without any rights.

In a written statement made by BİRTEK-SEN, it was noted that "the owner of ÖSA Güney Tekstil has vanished without paying the three-month wages and severance and notice compensations of the workers." The statement expressed that similar situations have occurred in many textile businesses recently, where owners have closed factories and disappeared, seizing the labor of workers.

"WE ARE LIVING IN RENT WITH CHILDREN"

A worker expressing that they are victimized because they have not received their salaries said, "They haven't paid salaries for three months. They constantly delayed. We even heard insults while working. They left even our personal belongings inside and left. We are not begging; we want what is rightfully ours. We are living in rent with children, and we have been in a very difficult situation for three months."

"WHEN THE RICH STEAL, IT'S SAID THEY WENT BANKRUPT"

Another worker stated, "We are complaining; all our friends have been defrauded and victimized. When the poor steal, they are called thieves, but when the rich steal, it is said they went bankrupt. Our government needs to impose sanctions on these people. Otherwise, all our friends will remain in a victimized situation. If they have no money, why are they employing workers? No one is their slave or porter."

"THE ONLY SOLUTION IS TO BE UNITED"

The union stated that they stand by the workers who are experiencing victimization, and it was reported that the regional representative and lawyer met with the workers, conveying the message that "the workers are not alone in their struggle for rights." The union called on the authorities, drawing attention to the similar incidents occurring consecutively in the textile sector, stating, "The only solution against this seizure is to be united and to fight together."
