STRONG REACTION FROM THE AK PARTY
On the other hand, a strong reaction came from the AK Party regarding Özel's statements. AK Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik stated in a social media post, "We will give the clearest response to this aggression in the political and legal arena."
Çelik included the following statements in his remarks: "We condemn the ugly and disrespectful words of CHP Chairman Özgür Özel directed at our esteemed President. Özgür Özel's ugly and disrespectful words towards our esteemed President and judicial officials are a political aggression. AK Party Deputy Chairman Efkan Ala also made a statement on social media regarding the issue, saying, "CHP leader Özgür Özel continues his insistence on lowering the level of politics. The ugly, divisive, and low-level language of politics does not align with the fundamental values and expectations of our nation. We will not allow this low-level discourse to find a place on the political stage."
Emphasizing that they will continue to work tirelessly, day and night, as servants of the nation to advance the country in every field, Ala stated, "Our focus will always be, as it has been, to strengthen our unity, continue our development, and increase the welfare of our citizens. Our determination to conduct politics within the framework of respect, courtesy, and service to our nation, rather than a language of hatred and anger, is firm. Our nation's will and high political culture will not give ground to such levels of indecency."
THE GOVERNMENT ALSO RESPONDED
The first reaction from the government side to Özel's remarks came from Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç. Tunç stated in a social media post, "The low-level, ugly, and aggressive attitude of the CHP Chairman is not only devoid of political ethics but also a great disrespect to our state tradition and the common values of our nation. Politics is a path of service to the nation. It is not about trying to undermine the institutions of the state with attacks, evil, and a language of hatred. No one should doubt that we will stand against any attack on national will and judicial independence. This language of hatred directed at the highest office of our state and judicial officials is absolutely unacceptable. No one, regardless of their position, is privileged or above the law. These hate speeches will certainly receive the response they deserve before the law."
YILMAZ: WE WILL NOT FALL INTO THE INDECENCY THAT THIS STYLE TRIES TO PULL US INTO
President Cevdet Yılmaz also stated, "Those who are incapable of producing politics on country and world issues will be swept away by the language of marginal organizations. I strongly condemn the insults and angry words directed at our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan by the CHP Chairman. This language and style turn their back not only on the traditions of democratic politics but also on the etiquette of the state and the values of our nation. We will not fall into the indecency that this style tries to pull us into; we will continue to work day and night for 86 million under the leadership of our President, producing politics of achievements and services."
