The new Minister of Justice, Akın Gürlek, explained for the first time the project he will implement regarding the prolongation of legal processes that have recently sparked debates and caused significant grievances for citizens. Citing rental and divorce cases as examples, Minister Gürlek stated, "I will establish a 'Hello Justice' hotline. They will reach the ministry directly. We cannot give instructions to judges and prosecutors, but we will notify the case-based offices. Commission heads will be contacted, and complaints will be conveyed."
As increasing rental disputes and years-long contentious divorce cases rank among the most complained legal issues by citizens, Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek announced that they are preparing a new project aimed at these areas.
CITIZENS COMPLAIN ABOUT LONG TRIAL PROCESSES
Recently, especially in metropolitan areas, disputes between landlords and tenants have significantly increased. The rapid rise in rental prices, eviction requests, and the congestion in courts are putting both tenants and landlords in a difficult position. Tenants complain about the pressure of exorbitant rent increases, while landlords lament low rental prices and the prolongation of eviction processes. The fact that judicial processes can take months or even years further escalates tensions between the parties.
DIVORCE CASES LAST FOR YEARS
On the other hand, the prolonged duration of contentious divorce cases is exhausting the parties both economically and psychologically. It is noted that disputes over custody, alimony, and property division extend the duration of cases.
Citizens are calling for the acceleration of trials, more effective operation of the mediation mechanism, and the implementation of regulations that will reduce grievances.
MINISTER GÜRLEK ANNOUNCES NEW PROJECT
Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek announced that they are working on a project that will provide solutions to landlord-tenant disputes and long-lasting divorce cases.
ALO JUSTICE IS COMING
In a live broadcast on A Haber, Minister Gürlek first explained the 'Alo Justice' hotline project that will be implemented, stating, "'I will establish an 'Alo Justice' hotline. They will reach the ministry directly. We cannot give instructions to judges and prosecutors, but we will notify the office based on the case. Commission chairpersons will be contacted, and complaints will be conveyed."
CITIZENS WILL REACH THE MINISTRY OF JUSTICE DIRECTLY
Expressing that the long duration of divorce, rental, and cadastral cases creates serious grievances, Gürlek mentioned that some cadastral cases have continued for generations.
Stating that they have initiated the "Zero Delay" project in collaboration with the Judges and Prosecutors Council (HSK), Gürlek noted that problematic cases are being examined one by one.
Gürlek said that citizens can reach the Ministry directly through 'Alo Justice' regarding long-lasting cases.
Indicating that applications can be made via phone, email, or CİMER, Gürlek expressed that instructions cannot be given to judges and prosecutors, but case-based examinations will be conducted through the "Judicial Effectiveness Office" within the HSK.
He emphasized that their aim is not to interfere with the judiciary but to identify the reasons for delays.
COMMERCIAL COURTS WILL BE COLLECTED IN A SINGLE CENTER
Stating that Istanbul is a commercial city, Gürlek said that the scattered structure of commercial courts prolongs the process. Gürlek announced that they will launch a pilot project to gather commercial courts in a single center in Istanbul, thus enabling faster and more uniform decisions in concordat and bankruptcy cases.
Gürlek noted that studies regarding physical facilities have been initiated, stating that strengthening the commercial trust environment will increase investments and shorten the duration of long-lasting commercial cases.
