The AK Party will add 7 more mayors to its ranks at the Expanded Provincial Chairmen's Meeting to be held today. Thus, the number of municipalities managed by the party will increase to 608, and the number of mayors joining after the elections will rise to 66.
The transfer of new mayors to the AK Party has been suggested. According to the claim, during the Expanded Provincial Chairmen's Meeting to be held at the Headquarters, 7 more district and town mayors will join the AK Party.
POST-ELECTION TRANSFERS HAD SPARKED DEBATE
In the local elections on March 31, 2024, the AK Party had won a total of 542 municipalities, including 12 metropolitan municipalities, 12 provinces, 347 districts, and 170 towns. After the elections, the number rose to 601 with the transition of some mayors who resigned from different parties to the AK Party, leading to debates in politics.
