Mehmet Işık, who killed his cousin's wife Kader Yıldırım with 39 blows from a pipe cutter in Samsun, confessed that he committed the murder to take Kader's bracelets from her arm to pay off his debt. HIS WIFE FOUND KADER IN A POOL OF BLOODThe incident occurred on May 24, on the 13th floor of a site on 1040th Street in the Balaç neighborhood of Atakum district. Fatih Yıldırım (41), unable to reach his wife Kader Yıldırım (39) by phone, went home. After borrowing a screwdriver from a neighbor and opening the door to the fire escape, Yıldırım found his wife, a mother of two, in a pool of blood. Following Fatih Yıldırım's report, police and medical teams were dispatched to the address. The teams determined that Kader Yıldırım had died, with cuts on her neck and various parts of her body. Fatih Yıldırım, who was taken to the police for his statement, said that the bracelets on his wife's arm had been stolen. The police, who initiated an investigation into the incident, identified that the murder was committed by Mehmet Işık, who lives on the 3rd floor of the same building and is Fatih Yıldırım's aunt's son. The suspect was taken into custody by police teams at the condolence house. The bracelets were also seized during the searches. HE CONFESSEDIn his statement, Mehmet Işık confessed that he had a debt of 300,000 lira to someone else and that he killed Kader Yıldırım to take her bracelets to pay off the debt. Işık, who is a plumber, stated that he killed Kader Yıldırım with a pipe cutter and then threw the murder weapon into the Kürtün Stream near the site. The initial autopsy of Kader Yıldırım revealed 39 cuts on her body. After his procedures at the police station, the suspect was referred to the courthouse and was arrested. The indictment prepared by the Samsun Chief Public Prosecutor's Office was accepted by the 2nd Heavy Penal Court. Işık was charged with 'intentional killing of a woman' and 'robbery with a weapon in a residence' and faced aggravated life imprisonment. The first hearing of the case was held today. "I WAS GOING TO SURRENDER"In his defense, the suspect Mehmet Işık stated, "I do not accept my statement at the police station. I made my statement under pressure and assault at the police. On the day of the incident, the victim cursed me and spat in my face. We started to struggle, and when my fingers were cut, I told her, 'Sister, let go, you will die or I will.' She then said to me, 'I will kill you.' A week or two before the incident, I went to the house. The victim was at home. I went because there was a malfunction. The janitor told me that the strainer next to the toilet was leaking. The victim was next to me. I did not plan to take it by force and kill her beforehand. There was half an hour between the moment the incident happened and when I left the house. I did not go to help with the funeral. I went because I was afraid for my child. If I could have escaped, I would have, I was in that area. After leaving my wife and child with relatives, I was going to surrender," he said. "HE LEFT IT OPEN ON PURPOSE"Fatih Yıldırım, Kader Yıldırım's husband, stated in his testimony, "My wife had 4 twisted bracelets on her arm. She also had a gold chain necklace around her neck. I believe the suspect took these. Three days before the incident, my wife called me. I spoke with the suspect, and he told me that he was leaking water to the lower floor. After the incident, I spoke with my neighbors, and they told me that they were in Istanbul and had no such request. The fire escape opens to our house. I think he left it open on purpose and entered the house from there on the day of the incident," he said. After hearing the complainant and the witness, the court adjourned the hearing.
