In the Körfez district of Kocaeli, Doğan Zorbaoğlu was sentenced to life imprisonment for killing his rival friend Adem Aydoğan with a gun. During the final hearing of the case, Zorbaoğlu stated, "My intention was not to kill."
Doğan Zorbaoğlu, who killed his friend Adem Aydoğan with whom he had a feud two years ago in Kocaeli's Körfez district, was sentenced to life imprisonment in the trial where he was held in custody. When asked for his last words before the verdict, the defendant said, "My intention was not to kill. If I wanted to kill, why would I shoot just once?"
The incident occurred on December 14, 2023, on Hamit Kaplan Street in the Esentepe neighborhood of Körfez district. A person walking on the street noticed that the individual in the parked car with the license plate 34 BK 3432 was motionless and reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene upon the notification. The police identified the person in the vehicle as Adem Aydoğan. During the medical team's examination, it was determined that Aydoğan had been shot in the back of his left shoulder with a gun.
DIED IN HOSPITAL
Aydoğan lost his life at Derince Training and Research Hospital, where he was taken by ambulance after the first intervention. Adem Aydoğan's funeral was held in his hometown, Ordu. In the investigation initiated, the police identified that the perpetrator was his friend Doğan Zorbaoğlu, with whom he had a feud, and took the suspect into custody. After the procedures, Zorbaoğlu was referred to the courthouse and was arrested. A case was opened against Zorbaoğlu for the crime of 'Intentional Murder.'
LIFE IMPRISONMENT SENTENCE GIVEN
Today, the verdict hearing of the case was held at the Kocaeli 3rd High Criminal Court. During the hearing, the detained defendant Zorbaoğlu was present along with the family of the deceased Aydoğan and their lawyers. The defendant, who was heard during the hearing, stated that he had argued with Aydoğan over a game they played in a café and that their relationship was strained. Zorbaoğlu, who said he called Aydoğan's wife and followed his wife G.Z. who was in the hospital on the day of the incident, claimed that he carried out the act to protect his family. When asked for his last words, the defendant said, "My intention was not to kill. If I wanted to kill, why would I shoot just once?"
The court decided to sentence the defendant to life imprisonment for the crime of 'Intentional Murder' and to 1 year in prison under the 'Law on Firearms and Knives and Other Tools.'
