During the heavy rainfall in the Derik district of Mardin, a part of the bridge was washed away by the overflowing water, while 'the tallest man in the world' Sultan Kösen was also stranded on the road with his vehicle.
Heavy rainfall in Mardin has caused floods and water inundations in many districts.
BRIDGE COLLAPSED
The downpour, which has been affecting the city for 2 days, has negatively impacted life, especially in rural neighborhoods. A part of the bridge in the rural Develi neighborhood of Derik district collapsed, while agricultural lands in the Ekinlik neighborhood of Kızıltepe district were damaged due to flooding. The road between Kuyucak and Dede neighborhoods in the rural area of Derik turned into a lake, making it difficult for vehicles to proceed.
SULTAN STRANDED
Sultan Kösen, who has held the title of 'the tallest man in the world' since 2009 with a height of 2 meters and 51 centimeters, also got stranded on the road in his rural Dede neighborhood. The light commercial vehicle he was in became trapped on the flooded road. The water was drained with an excavator and construction machinery, and the road was opened for traffic.
