The aggressive behavior exhibited by a female pilot, who was a passenger on a British Airways flight from Edinburgh to London and was found to be extremely intoxicated, led to the cancellation of the flight's departure. The pilot, who caused chaos for other passengers and resisted the police, resulting in a scuffle, was arrested on charges of 'endangering aviation safety' and subsequently suspended from her duties.
On May 30th, an extraordinary incident occurred on a scheduled flight from Edinburgh, Scotland, to Heathrow Airport in London, England, operated by British Airways.
DRUNK FEMALE PILOT PUT PASSENGERS THROUGH HELL
A 51-year-old female pilot, who was a passenger on the plane, was found to be extremely drunk before takeoff. Displaying very aggressive behavior and putting the passengers through hell, the pilot could not be calmed down. After intervening, the pilot began to heavily insult the other passengers, leading the captain to abandon the takeoff.
RESISTED POLICE, ALTERCATION ENSUED
After flight BA1457 returned to the gate, airport police intervened. However, the female pilot, who refused to be taken into custody, resisted the security forces. As a result of the altercation, the woman was brought under control with difficulty and was detained on suspicion of "endangering aviation safety" and "assault."
WAS REMOVED FROM DUTY BEFORE ENTERING THE COCKPIT
The pilot, who was not on official duty that day, was scheduled to join the cockpit crew for another flight after arriving at Heathrow. However, following the incident, the detained pilot was also temporarily suspended from duty by British Airways.
SIMILAR INCIDENTS HAVE OCCURRED BEFORE
Recently, British Airways has been in the news for similar incidents involving staff. In recent weeks, cabin crew member Haden Pentecost was caught using drugs in the bathroom during a California–London flight while naked and became unable to control his consciousness throughout the flight. After the flight, Pentecost was removed from duty and was convicted in court for "performing flight duties under the influence of drugs."
