The Pelitli Recreation Area, which is nearing completion in the Gebze district of Kocaeli, is preparing to make a first in Turkey with its giant slide measuring 207 meters in length. In addition to the country's largest slide, the facility will also feature parking lots, barbecue and event areas, and children's play sections.
The countdown has begun for the Pelitli Recreation Area, built by the Gebze Municipality in the Pelitli neighborhood of Kocaeli, which aims to create an important alternative for the region's social life.
Gebze Mayor Zinnur Büyükgöz, who inspected the project area, stated that the facility is designed as a "concept living space" and includes many firsts.
"THE LONGEST SLIDE IN TURKEY IS HERE"
Mayor Büyükgöz emphasized that the recreation area has rich social facilities, stating that the most striking feature of the project is the giant slide that appeals to adventure enthusiasts. Providing information about the technical details of the facility, Büyükgöz noted: "We will soon present our recreation area, which will be the center of social life in our Pelitli neighborhood, to our citizens. We have implemented the longest slide system in Turkey here. This slide, which is 207 meters long, will meet the adrenaline-seeking needs of our people. Additionally, our facility features a pond and a 250-meter-long artificial waterfall with a natural stream flow. Our citizens will experience the soothing sound of water and its visual beauty here."
CAPACITY FOR 7,000 PEOPLE AND NATURAL GAS BARBECUE ENJOYMENT
Büyükgöz stated that the area has a total capacity to serve 7,000 people at the same time and expressed that they have also included environmentally friendly and modern solutions. He mentioned that they will offer a service beyond the classic barbecue concept, saying, "We will provide natural gas cooking systems that can cook meat and kebabs for 40-50 people at the same time. The facility also includes social amenities such as two children's play areas, two prayer rooms, and restroom facilities. In the first phase, our parking lot will serve 500 vehicles, with a target of 1,000. We have also created spacious areas where two local associations can hold events simultaneously," he said.
PLANNED TO OPEN IN APRIL
Addressing the opening schedule and pricing policy of the facility, Mayor Büyükgöz concluded his remarks as follows: "With the arrival of spring, we plan to activate the facility around April. Our citizens will be able to benefit from all other services in the area free of charge, except for the symbolic service fees for the slide system and natural gas cooking units. We will be pleased to host all our fellow citizens here. We wish our Gebze good luck in advance."
