European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced that they are working on concrete plans to deploy a multinational military force to Ukraine with the support of the United States. Emphasizing the importance of security guarantees, von der Leyen stated that the necessary political decisions must also be made to implement these plans.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that the EU is working on "quite specific plans" to deploy a multinational military force to Ukraine as part of post-conflict security guarantees, with the support of the United States.

In an interview with the Financial Times, EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen referred to security guarantees for Ukraine.

"WE ARE WORKING ON MILITARY DEPLOYMENT TO UKRAINE"

Von der Leyen said that European countries are working on "quite specific plans" for potential military deployments to Ukraine under post-conflict security guarantees, with the full support of the United States, stating, "Security guarantees are very important and absolutely vital. We have a clear roadmap, and we have reached an agreement at the White House, and this work is progressing very well."

"TRUMP GAVE ASSURANCES"

Referring to the assurances given by U.S. President Donald Trump that there would be a U.S. presence as part of the security guarantees, Leyen said, "This was very clear and confirmed multiple times."

"DEPLOYING TROOPS IS ONE OF A NATION'S MOST IMPORTANT SOVEREIGN DECISIONS"

Recalling that the chiefs of staff of the countries forming the Coalition of Volunteers met last week, von der Leyen stated that the chiefs of staff are working on quite specific plans, which include the functional deployment of troops. Von der Leyen said, "Of course, the political decision of the relevant country is always needed. Because deploying troops is one of a nation's most important sovereign decisions."

"PUTIN IS NOT DOING MORE OF WHAT HE SAYS"

Praising Trump's efforts for peace between Russia and Ukraine, von der Leyen said, "Putin has not changed; he is a predator. Trump wants peace, and Putin is not coming to the negotiating table. He has a negative experience with Putin. Putin is increasingly not doing what he says. However, in recent months, we have had a few encounters where it has become clear that Europeans can be trusted. When we say something, it is clear that we will do it."

"WE WILL EXPLORE NEW FINANCING SOURCES"

Von der Leyen stated that the EU Commission will explore new financing sources to ensure sustainable funding for the Ukrainian Armed Forces as a security guarantee, emphasizing that the existing flow of funding, including budget support for Ukraine, should continue even in peacetime. Von der Leyen said, "The role of the Commission is extremely important in ensuring that member states finance an increase in defense."

Highlighting that the nature of the war has completely changed, von der Leyen stated that EU armies need to invest in drones, air and missile defense, space, and cyber capabilities.
