The incident occurred on September 1 at around 18:00 in the forested area of Büyükbakkalköy Neighborhood. Upon notification, a large number of fire and police teams were dispatched to the scene. After the fire was extinguished, an examination by the teams revealed a burned camp tent near the point where the fire started.

Investigations in the tent revealed that the campers had made a wood fire and left the area without extinguishing it. Additionally, materials related to drug use were also seized in the vicinity.

In field studies conducted by the Istanbul Police Department, suspects M.E.G. (32) and B.G. (32), who were determined to have set up camp in the forested area, were caught and taken into custody today. During their interrogations, it was learned that a dispute arose between them during the camp, and B.G. threw a pillow into the burning fire, causing the flames to grow and turn into a fire.
It was determined that the suspects, upon realizing that a fire had broken out, distanced themselves from the scene. Legal action was initiated against the two suspects for 'causing a forest fire' and 'using narcotic substances.'
