Roketsan engineer Yusuf Serdar Yücel was found dead in his home in Ankara. Initial investigations suggest that the young engineer committed suicide by ingesting sodium nitrate, while his father, retired police officer Ahmet Yücel, claimed that his son was executed.

The grieving family called on the authorities to clarify the incident while waiting for the autopsy results from the Forensic Medicine Institution. Father Yücel stated that he examined his son's body at the morgue with his former colleagues and reached striking findings.

"HE WAS A VERY DEDICATED AND SUCCESSFUL PERSON"

Claiming that his son did not commit suicide and was executed, father Yücel said, "Yusuf was our only child. He had no health or psychological problems. He was a very dedicated and successful person. His mother went to Ankara to be with him in December, and she said they were having a great time together. On the night of the incident, my son had to work overtime due to New Year's. After finishing work, he went home to rest. Later, when my son did not go to work, his friends became suspicious and notified the police. When they entered the house, my son's lifeless body was found," he stated.

"DEATH WITH THIS SUBSTANCE IS VERY RARE"

Father Ahmet Yücel noted that he encountered many suspicious situations from the beginning of the incident, saying, "It was said that the police would investigate when they arrived in Ankara, and then it was transferred to the homicide bureau. When we arrived at the house, there was a stressful atmosphere. Due to my profession as a police officer, I immediately understood that there was a disturbance at the scene. It was said that sodium nitrate was found in my son's room. I researched it; this substance is a type used by farmers as fertilizer. Death with this substance is very rare," he said.

"THEY FORCED HIM TO KNEEL AND POINTED A GUN AT HIS NECK"

Ahmet Yücel stated that he examined his son's body at the morgue with his former colleagues, saying, "From the marks we saw, we think my son was forced to kneel, a gun was pointed at his neck to incapacitate him, and then he was suffocated with a bag and poisoned with a substance. He had spots on his face and pressure marks on his shoulders. The rest of his body was completely clean. His right foot and right hand indicated the position in which the incident occurred. After this execution, false news spread, and fake evidence was produced. During this process, I could not receive support from official authorities. I am complaining about the disinformation and evidence tampering attempts regarding my son's death," he said.

HE CALLED ON THE AUTHORITIES

Ahmet Yücel called on the authorities, saying, "From now on, let no other valuable engineers and scientists face such incidents. They should be protected. My son left with honor. Call it suicide or martyrdom, we say our homeland is safe, and we leave this process to God," he said.

THE CAUSE OF DEATH WILL BE CLARIFIED BY THE AUTOPSY AT THE FORENSIC MEDICINE

The exact cause of death of the deceased Roketsan engineer Yusuf Serdar Yücel is expected to be clarified by the autopsy to be conducted at the Ankara Forensic Medicine Institution.
