According to the Istanbul Governorship's report for the 2023-2025 period, while operations against organized crime groups have increased, the material value of assets seized from crime has risen 32 times in two years, reaching 318 billion TL.
The Istanbul Governorship's report on the fight against organized crime for the 2023-2025 period revealed a striking increase in both the quantity and impact of operations conducted throughout the city. According to the announced data, the number of operations against organized crime groups increased by 97% over two years, rising from 211 to 416.
MORE THAN 3,000 PEOPLE ARRESTED
During the same period, the number of suspects captured rose from 2,683 to 4,949, while the number of people arrested increased by 163% from 1,184 to 3,119. The number of organized crime groups targeted in operations also reached 162 by 2025, up from 92 in 2023. This increase demonstrated the coordinated and multidimensional efforts of the Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime, Narcotics, and Cyber Crime units.
SEIZED ASSETS INCREASED 32 TIMES
The most striking headline in the report was related to the assets obtained from crime. The value of seized assets, which was 9.5 billion TL in 2023, rose to 33.5 billion TL in 2024 and reached 318 billion TL in 2025. Thus, an increase of approximately 32 times was recorded over two years.
According to experts, this picture indicates that the fight against organized crime is not limited to field operations but also reveals the implementation of a new strategy focused on cutting off the financial veins of the organizations.
