GOVERNOR ÇİFTÇİ: FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED AT THE SCENE IN 4 MINUTES

Erzurum Governor Mustafa Çiftçi and Yakutiye District Governor Tuncay Kaldırım inspected the scene and received information from the authorities. Governor Çiftçi stated that the fire in the döner kebab establishment started at 23:54 and that a fire truck arrived at the scene within 4 minutes after the notification. He expressed that the fire, which spread to the adjacent business and hotel, affected 4 buildings, saying, "Fire trucks, medical, and police teams from Erzurum Metropolitan Municipality were directed to the area by our 112 Emergency Call Center. A total of 25 fire trucks and water tankers were insufficient to intervene in the fire, so 3 foam spraying vehicles and riot control vehicles from the State Airports Authority, as well as vehicles from the Forest Regional Directorate, quickly arrived at the scene. Thanks to the intense efforts and struggles of our teams, the fire was completely brought under control after a 2.5-hour struggle. Cooling efforts are ongoing. The cause of the fire will be determined based on the fire department's report. Our greatest consolation is that there were no casualties. There was a hotel nearby. I learned that there were 4 guests in the hotel. The guests were evacuated along with the fire, which prevented possible casualties," he said.
