Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that they officially received a proposal for an agreement regarding rare earth elements from the United States today.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a press conference in the capital Kiev, where he made evaluations regarding the latest developments related to the Russia-Ukraine War.
"THE RARE EARTH ELEMENTS AGREEMENT PROPOSAL FROM THE U.S. WAS OFFICIALLY RECEIVED TODAY"
In his speech, Zelensky also touched upon the preparation process of the rare earth elements agreement expected to be signed with the U.S. side, stating that work on the subject is ongoing. Zelensky reported that the draft agreement prepared by the U.S. was officially communicated to them today, and he mentioned that relevant experts would review the document. He expressed that he would approve the version of the agreement suitable for the Ukrainian state, saying, "If there is a risky situation for us, of course, I will share this with our society without keeping it a secret."
"WE WILL NOT ACCEPT DEBTS"
Zelensky noted: "(According to the agreement) We will not accept debts; this is absolutely clear to me, I do not see these. At least for now, we are talking about the past. If there is any possibility of new support packages, then the U.S. may likely impose certain conditions."
TRUMP AND ZELENSKY HAD A DISPUTE, THE AGREEMENT WAS PUT ON HOLD
U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had a dispute in front of cameras during their meeting in the Oval Office on Friday, February 28. Later, the joint press conference that was announced to take place was canceled, and Zelensky left the White House alone, and the rare earth elements agreement was not signed. Trump claimed that Zelensky "disrespected the American people," while Zelensky stated that he had not done anything wrong to apologize for.
