AK Party Group Chairman Abdullah Güler held a press conference in the AK Party Group Presidency foyer area at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).
BAHÇELİ'S CALL FOR A DELEGATION TO BE SENT TO 'IMRALI' In response to a question from a press member asking, "How do you approach the call of MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli to send a delegation to 'Imralı' from the commission?" Güler said, "The primary aim of the current work being done here is to establish an environment and a permanent presence in which terrorism will never again come to the agenda of this society, under no circumstances and conditions will weapons and violence arise again. Our goal is the end of terrorism. The commission will reassess the needs when the time comes and when the work is completed. After the evaluation, a matter will arise. We will also take it into our agenda and discuss it."
AK Party Group Chairman Abdullah Güler (Center) WHAT DID BAHÇELİ SAY? On Tuesday, October 7, during his party's group meeting in the Parliament, MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli stated: "I must say without bending or twisting, that the founding leadership of the PKK has put its hand under the stone. At the end of the February 27 Peace and Democratic Society Call, the PKK laid down its arms on May 12 and dissolved its organizational existence. On July 11, a group of PKK members burned their weapons. However, the SDG/YPG, which has an area of influence in northeastern Syria, has not yet laid down its arms and has not complied with the February 27 Imralı call. However, the call from Imralı encompasses all components of separatist terrorism, as well as the PKK. At least, this is how we understand it; our interpretation is in this direction. My expectation is this: The founding leadership of the PKK should directly call the SDG/YPG with the same nature and content, demanding compliance with the March 10 agreement signed with the Damascus administration. While there is a consensus that the People's Assembly elections, held for the first time after the overthrow of the Assad regime, should be the center of gravity for a new period, new political and social mechanisms within democratic stability; the exclusion of Raqqa, Hasakah, and Suwayda contradicts the spirit of the March 10 Agreement. If necessary, a group of deputies serving in the National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democracy Commission should go to Imralı to hold face-to-face meetings, messages should be received firsthand, and shared with the public. I see nothing to hesitate about in this. The statement binding us is the February 27 Imralı statement."
