Heavy rainfall during the daytime in the Foça district of İzmir caused a disaster in the city. Due to the intense rain, roads were submerged, and a photo capturing the moments where the sea meets the land revealed the extent of the disaster.

As a result of the intense rainfall that started around 12:30 in the neighborhoods of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Fevzi Çakmak, and Cumhuriyet in the Foça district, many houses and workplaces were flooded.
MANY VEHICLES WERE SUBMERGED
Due to the flood, many vehicles were submerged, and 5 people who were stranded in their vehicles were rescued by gendarmerie and fire brigade teams. Damage assessment work in the neighborhoods continues under the coordination of AFAD teams.

In İzmir, the downpour was effective not only in the Foça district but also in Karaburun and Aliağa. According to the data from the 2nd Regional Directorate of Meteorology, Foça received over 120 kilograms of rain per square meter, Karaburun received 50, and Aliağa received over 35 kilograms. In Foça, where streets and avenues turned into lakes, some vehicles were also left stranded in water puddles on the road. Teams have started working to rescue the vehicles.
