With the decision published in the Official Gazette signed by President Erdoğan, Ümit Önal has been appointed as the President of the Cyber Security Authority.
WHO IS ÜMIT ÖNAL? Ümit Önal, a graduate of Istanbul University Faculty of Communication, started his professional career in the media and communication sector; he joined the Turkuvaz Media Group in 2007 and served in various roles including General Manager of ATV, Advertising Group President, and Member of the Executive Board until 2015. After taking on the roles of Board Member and General Manager of Digitürk in 2015, he managed the sale process of Digitürk to BeIN Media Group.
Ümit Önal At the end of 2016, Önal joined the Türk Telekom family as the Deputy General Manager responsible for Sales and Customer Services, and in December 2018, he was appointed as the Deputy General Manager responsible for Marketing and Customer Services; in August 2019, he was appointed as the CEO of the company. With over 20 years of experience in the media and communication sector, Önal has made significant contributions to the profound transformation process of Turkish media and continues to lead Turkey's digital and technological transformation within Türk Telekom.
BOARD MEMBER AT TURK TELEKOM Throughout his career, he has actively participated in national and international associations. Önal, who served as the Chairman of the Board of the Mobile Telecommunications Operators Association (m-TOD) in 2020 and 2022, is still actively involved as a member of the International Investors Association (YASED) and the American Business Council of the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEİK).
Ümit Önal was appointed as the CEO of the company in August 2019 and has also been serving as a Board Member of Türk Telekom since March 2022.
