The images of the Russian national mother who gave birth in the airport toilet have emerged.

New images have emerged regarding the newborn baby found in a disabled toilet at Antalya Airport last week. The Russian national mother, Ekaterina Burnazkina, who is alleged to have abandoned the baby, and the girl's mother have been detained and arrested. The moments of the incident, which were included in the case file, were captured by the airport's security cameras. Ayşegül Kübra Polat, who took on the voluntary legal representation of the family, described her conversation with the mother and daughter. It was claimed that the young girl who gave birth in the airport's disabled toilet experienced 'cryptic pregnancy'.

On the evening of October 13, Sunday, a cleaning staff found a newborn baby in the toilet bowl of a disabled toilet at Antalya Airport. In the investigation conducted by the police who arrived upon notification, it was determined that the baby was abandoned by Russian citizen Ekaterina Burnazkina (18) just 12 minutes before being found. It was revealed that Ekaterina Burnazkina, who abandoned the baby, went to the passport counters with her mother Elena Burnazkina to complete her exit procedures from the country. Ekaterina Burnazkina and her mother, who were preparing to go to Moscow, were detained by the Antalya Police Department Airport Branch teams. The newborn baby was taken to the hospital after the initial intervention of the health teams. The baby's mother, Ekaterina Burnazkina, was also taken to another hospital for treatment.

THEY WERE ARRESTED

After their procedures at the police station, grandmother Elena Burnazkina was referred to the courthouse on Monday evening and was arrested. After her treatment at the hospital, Ekaterina Burnazkina and her mother were arrested by the duty magistrate for the crime of 'attempted murder'. Ayşegül Kübra Polat, registered with the Antalya Bar Association, took on the voluntary legal representation of the mother and daughter and communicated with the young girl and her mother through an interpreter in prison.

IT WAS REVEALED THAT SHE WAS 18 YEARS OLD

Lawyer Ayşegül Kübra Polat expressed that the events were truly distressing, stating, "I wish this incident had never happened. We are all saddened by this event. First of all, I want to correct the misinformation in the media. Although my client has been reported as being 28 years old in the press, she was actually born in June 2006 and is a young girl who just turned 18 four months ago. She is a high school student," she said. Polat also added that another misconception was that the young girl came to Turkey, Antalya, with the baby's father just to get rid of the baby, stating, "Such an event is definitely not true. My client and her mother came to Alanya for a 10-day vacation this year, just like every year."

"SHE DID NOT KNOW SHE WAS PREGNANT"

Lawyer Kübra Polat also pointed out that the events were extraordinary and quite unimaginable, continuing her speech: "My client did not know she was pregnant until the moment she gave birth, and even at the moment of giving birth, she did not fully understand what was happening. Although this situation may sound impossible, there is a medical counterpart to it. Cryptic pregnancy is what it is called. In such pregnancies, it has been found that some women do not realize they are pregnant until the 4th or 5th month, and some women are unaware until the moment of birth. There are many cases of this in the world. Such an event is possible. In these types of pregnancies, there are no pregnancy symptoms. My client did not experience any signs of pregnancy at all. She is a rather overweight young girl and has not detected any different condition in her body due to long-standing hormonal disorders. In fact, just 4-5 days before the incident, thinking she had a digestive system problem, she and her mother went to a private hospital in Alanya. Here, she was treated and sent home with medication. So there is no detected condition like pregnancy."

"SHE ENTERED AND EXITED THE TOILET 5-6 TIMES THINKING SHE HAD A DIGESTIVE SYSTEM PROBLEM"

Polat argued that her client did not intentionally abandon the baby or seek to get rid of it, concluding her remarks: "On the day of the incident, they came to the airport to go to Russia with her mother. The girl had severe abdominal pain and, thinking she had a digestive system problem, she entered and exited the toilet 5-6 times. She was trying to relieve herself. Then this incident occurred. Due to the shock of the event, she actually left the scene without knowing what to do. The shock she experienced at that moment is, as you can imagine, a situation that cannot be described in words. Because you go to the toilet to relieve yourself, and suddenly a baby is born. At that moment, the girl's mother is waiting at the toilet door. The mother calls out, 'Where have you been?', 'The flight time has come, we will be late.' She doesn't say anything to her mother when she comes out of the toilet. In fact, she can't say anything. Because her mother has a heart condition. At that moment, she just wants to get away from there. Later, the cleaning staff finds the baby, and this situation comes to light. I spoke with the mother and daughter in prison. The mother and daughter have not fully recovered from the shock of the incident. They are very sad about what happened. Right now, all they want is to be able to go to Russia with their baby in good health, together with their families. They want the baby right now. Fortunately, the baby girl is healthy. Frankly, the most important thing right now is the child's health.

IMAGES FROM THE AIRPORT HAVE EMERGED

Meanwhile, the moments experienced by the young girl and her mother at Antalya Airport, which were included in the case file, were captured by security cameras. In the footage, the young girl is seen arriving at the airport with her mother in a tour operator's minibus, with a suitcase in her hand and bags in her mother's hand. The young girl, who appears quite calm, wanders around the corridor for a while after delivering the luggage to the cargo. At one point, she is seen holding her waist with both hands. Then, it is observed that her mother is waiting at the door of the disabled restroom, and after the girl comes out of the restroom, her mother holds her hand and they leave the area. In the continuation of the footage, it is seen that the young girl and her mother were taken into custody at the police checkpoint and were taken to the police station.

WHAT IS CRYPTIC PREGNANCY?

Doctor Hatice Daş stated that there is something called 'cryptic pregnancy' in medicine, saying, "This is a condition where women do not show symptoms, which is different from normal pregnancy processes. A woman can experience her normal pregnancy without symptoms until she feels labor pains and gives birth. This can lead to such unfortunate outcomes. In normal pregnancies, women can see symptoms, especially from the 20th week onwards. However, sometimes due to hormonal changes, some women may experience this. Although it is not common, it can be seen in women who are overweight and have hormonal imbalances. As seen in this case, a girl who is already overweight comes to the hospital with complaints of abdominal pain. Initially, pregnancy is not considered. She also states that she is experiencing a condition related to constipation. The examination is conducted accordingly, and treatment is applied. Since there were no suspicions based on the appearance, she is prescribed medication and sent home."
