In a statement from the official website of the Örebro Police, it was reported that a tip-off was received about gunfire being heard near the mosque in Örebro at 13:45 local time. The statement noted that police teams arrived at the scene following the tip-off and that there were injuries in the attack.
2 PEOPLE INJURED
In the statement, citizens were urged to stay away from the scene, and it was noted that the cause of the incident is still unknown, but an investigation has been launched regarding the matter. According to a report by Swedish state television SVT, Police Spokesperson Lars Hedelin announced that two people were injured in the attack.
Mazen Muwaffak, one of the eyewitnesses who spoke to the Expressen newspaper, indicated that two people who exited the mosque were shot, saying, "We couldn't tell if the attack was directed at the mosque or at the individuals who were shot. We were pleased that the police arrived at the scene quickly."
