In the indictment, former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu was designated as a victim, and former Hatay Metropolitan Mayor Lütfü Savaş was designated as a complainant.

12 PEOPLE, INCLUDING İMAMOĞLU, ARE FACING IMPRISONMENT

The indictment requested prison sentences of 1 to 3 years for Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was removed from his position as the Mayor of Istanbul after being arrested as part of a corruption investigation, İzmir Metropolitan Mayor Cemil Tugay, CHP Istanbul Provincial Chairman Özgür Çelik, and others including Baki Aydöner, Erkan Aydın, Hüseyin Yaşar, Mehmet Kılınçaslan, Metin Güzelkaya, Özgen Nama, Özgür Çelik, Rıza Akpolat, and Serhat Can Eş for the crime of "manipulating the vote" as stated in Article 112 of the Political Parties Law.

"ACTION WAS TAKEN UNDER İMAMOĞLU'S ORGANIZATION"

The indictment stated that Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was removed from his position as the Mayor of Istanbul after being arrested as part of a corruption investigation, served as the "Chairman of the Council" at the party's 38th Ordinary Congress, and that other suspects acted in participation under İmamoğlu's organization.

The indictment indicated that the suspects acted together to commit the alleged crime, and included the following statements:

"At the Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi 38th Ordinary Congress held at the Ankara Sports Hall on November 4-5, 2023, some of the congress delegates who voted were given money to vote in favor of the presidential candidate Özgür Özel; some delegates were offered and promised candidacies for mayorship and municipal council membership in various provinces and districts, some delegates and their relatives were placed in jobs in CHP municipalities and their affiliated companies and enterprises, and many market shopping cards were distributed to some delegates and their relatives. They requested that the delegates who voted in the congress send them photos of their votes taken with their mobile phones, and they made false statements regarding Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's withdrawal from candidacy by delaying the transition to the second round of voting after the first round results in the congress hall. In this way, it was stated that they acted to corrupt the will of the congress delegates and to facilitate the election of the presidential candidate Özgür Özel.

In the Chief Public Prosecutor's indictment, it was noted that during the congress process and afterwards, on some social media accounts and in certain written and visual media outlets, it was claimed that some benefits were provided and certain promises were made to delegates supporting Kılıçdaroğlu to support Özel, and these allegations were raised by party members.
