As part of the 'extortion through coercion' investigation initiated by the Kırıkkale Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on September 19, Yahşihan Mayor Ahmet Sungur, along with Deputy Mayor Celal Yıldırım, former Deputy Mayor Osman Uluyurt, Construction Director Semih Aksakal, former Construction Director and businessman Ulaş Biçer, and municipal employees Y.N.Y., M.S., and S.G.Ç. were detained. While one of the suspects, Y.N.S., was released under judicial control, Yahşihan Mayor Ahmet Sungur, Deputy Mayor Celal Yıldırım, former Deputy Mayor Osman Uluyurt, Construction Director Semih Aksakal, and former Construction Director and businessman Ulaş Biçer were arrested.

Following the decision, the Ministry of Interior stated, "Yahşihan Mayor Ahmet Sungur has been temporarily dismissed from office due to his arrest for the crime of 'extortion'."
WHO IS AHMET SUNGUR?
Ahmet Sungur, born in 1971 in Kırıkkale, completed his primary and secondary education in Yahşihan and his high school education in Kırıkkale. A graduate of the Kırıkkale Vocational School of Industrial Automation, Sungur was appointed as a civil servant at Yahşihan Municipality in 1989 and worked as an electrical technician within the Village Services. Sungur was elected as the Mayor of Yahşihan in the local government elections of 2009, 2014, and 2024.
