The Mayor of Eskipazar district in Karabük, Serkan Cıva, who could not withstand the pressures to hire workers, expressed his grievances through social media.

"I TURN SOMERSAULT EVERY MONTH"

Stating that they are bombarded with questions like "Are you hiring workers?" from at least 50 people daily, either through calls or visits to the municipality, and that they cannot serve the community and have surpassed the İŞKUR (Turkish Employment Agency) directorate, AK Party Mayor Serkan Cıva said, "Close to the elections, 18-20 personnel were hired in this municipality, and these have doubled the budget. The municipality's income does not cover its expenses. There is existing money coming from the Iller Bank, but every month we receive 1 million to 1.5 million less. I cannot cover the expenses of our municipal staff, and to balance this money, I am turning somersaults every month, cutting back from tradesmen, cutting back from here and there. Right now, I have put three plots of land of the municipality up for sale to be able to pay the salaries of municipal staff in the coming months. We are facing such a situation. 4-5 people have retired, but that hasn't even reduced the number," he said.

"IF I COULD HIRE THE WHOLE DISTRICT, EVERYONE WOULD GET IN"

Noting that inspectors from the Court of Accounts have come and explained the situation, Mayor Cıva said, "We talked directly with the inspectors and explained the situation, both due to the austerity measures and because the worker expenses are far above the budget. If there is hiring, the mayor and the company manager will be held accountable. They say you will pay from your own pocket. Should I cover the worker expenses with a salary of 60 thousand lira, or take care of my own family? Please show us a little leniency in this matter, let us serve the community a bit. After the elections, one disabled person was hired, and they made it mandatory according to the numbers, and three civil servants were transferred to the municipality. Unfortunately, I regret to say that because this is a political place, when hiring, it’s the son of this one, the nephew of that one, or someone who voted for us. Everyone is filling the municipality with people around them, and you can't find a skilled worker to do the job. As a result, the district suffers this problem. Right now, they have condemned the district to a single butcher. There is no alternative, no skilled workers. There has been a water problem for months that we couldn't solve. Why is there no skilled worker? We have no one who knows the job, no one who works. Unfortunately, if I could hire, I would want to hire a qualified craftsman first. Because this district needs services. If I could hire the whole district, everyone would get in. Everyone sees the municipality as a comfortable place, a resting place. Friends, if the goal is work, if it is a breadwinner, many factories will open. Just wait a bit, give us a few more months. An aluminum factory is being established in the OSB (Organized Industrial Zone), it will hire, a lumber factory is being established, it will hire. We will definitely help. We will be concerned with the troubles of the community and our people. We will find jobs, we will find bread. But please give us a little leniency, allow us to serve this community a bit. This community needs services. The future of this community is bright and open. This community does not run on gossip, on this and that. What has happened so far with gossip? People who have no planted trees in the community gossip all day long. Because of the gossip, all our surrounding districts have doubled or tripled. And if we do not evaluate this transition period well, we will talk again. This community does not need gossip; it needs housing, social areas, TOKİ (Housing Development Administration), an industrial site, clean drinking water, livestock, cafeterias, restaurants, and a national garden. We have laid the foundations for all of these with our team, hopefully. This year, we will solve most of these, hopefully, we will do it," he expressed his reaction.

Continuing his reaction by saying let’s make an agreement with the public, Mayor Cıva said, "Let me not be a candidate for the next term. Just let me work a bit. Let’s leave a beautiful Eskipazar for our future, our youth, and our people, together. After that, I can just leave. It doesn’t matter. We have no problem with the seat, thank God. We aspired to these positions because we love the district. We have a value like our deputy Ali Keşkinkılıç. We haven't even learned to support him. I am a witness, my friend, most of the investments we made in this district were with the support of our deputy Ali, may God bless him. But as a district, we criticize him, morning and night. He hasn’t done this, he hasn’t done that. What more can this man do? We have received services for 7-8 months. We are receiving them. Just give us a little leniency, let’s build a beautiful Eskipazar together with our deputy. After that, you can gossip, you can place whoever you want. There’s no problem. The future of this community is bright. Please, I beg you. Don’t put obstacles in front of this community with gossip and this and that. I have left my work and am spending my evenings with the gossip about workers in the district. 400 people applied to the soda factory, they hired 10. We are giving references to everyone. Three hundred and ninety people were left out. They are hostile to us. Is this something we can control? Those who send messages, we will take you down from the seat, we are behind you, in front of you, beside you. Leave these things. Just let us work a bit and serve this district. Because of these gossipers, people who do not produce results have not been able to go anywhere for years. But I have vowed to serve this country. No matter what anyone does, I will not deviate from what I believe is right. As long as nothing passes my throat, it doesn’t matter what anyone says. They have run out of insults. We are opening a tea garden, they call us thieves, we are doing this, they call us shameless, they say all sorts of things. Honestly, I don’t care. Just give us a little leniency regarding worker hiring. The future of this community is bright. Unemployment will be solved. Everything will be solved.
