After the clothing regulations in primary and secondary education, the issue of the shoes that students will wear has now come to the forefront. Claims have emerged that students will only wear black shoes in the 2026-2027 academic year. In a statement regarding the matter, the ministry said, "There is no decision made or approved on this issue."

School uniform regulations are back on the agenda. After the implementation of aprons in primary schools and uniforms in secondary education, this time the students' shoes have become a topic of discussion. Some media outlets reported that starting from the 2026-2027 academic year, approximately 18 million students will only wear black shoes.

MINISTRY DENIES THE ALLEGATIONS

According to a report by NTV, the Ministry of National Education's statement dismissed the allegations. The Ministry's Press Advisor Yılmaz Güney stated, "There is no decision that has been made, approved, or is under consideration regarding this issue," putting an end to the rumors.

WHAT IS THE SOURCE OF THE ALLEGATIONS?

The origin of the black shoe allegations came from the Turkish Shoemakers Industrialists Association (TASD). Association officials presented a report they prepared after a meeting held at the Ministry to the authorities. The report argued that leather and leather-soled school shoes would contribute to the healthy development of children. However, the proposal was not accepted by the Ministry of National Education.

Currently, there is no official regulation regarding students' shoes. While the Ministry continues to work on clothing standards, no definitive steps have been taken regarding shoes.
