The area around Lake Çıldır, located between the borders of Kars and Ardahan, has been covered with green flies, causing drivers on the road to experience difficult moments. The density of the flies was also captured on mobile phone cameras.
The area surrounding Çıldır Lake, which spans 123 square kilometers and is located on the Kars-Ardahan border, has been swarmed by flies. The increase in clusters of flies, referred to as 'green flies' by the local population, is particularly noticeable during this season.
REDUCING VISIBILITY
The density of mosquitoes, which increases at different times of the day, is causing difficult moments for drivers passing through the region. The windshields, headlights, and engine parts of vehicles are covered with mosquitoes, significantly reducing the drivers' visibility. The sudden decrease in visibility, especially during the evening hours, poses a serious threat to driving safety.
"A BIT FRIGHTENING"
Saner Çağrı Genç, a driver who noted encountering the same scene for about 5 kilometers along the lake shore, said, "While traveling to Georgia, we came across a swarm of flies. From the flies that landed on the car window, we understand that this is their mating season. It's truly a different sight and a bit frightening. The sound of the flies I heard is quite different, and it was a unique experience for us."
