Saniye Çelik, the headman of Pınar Neighborhood in Adana, carried out an interesting action by holding a 'funeral' for the municipality, claiming that they have not received services from Seyhan Municipality for two years. Çelik addressed the authorities, stating, "The municipality is effectively dead."
The neighborhood head Saniye Çelik, who claims they have not received services in Adana, made an interesting statement by declaring that the Seyhan Municipality has 'passed away' and held a funeral for it.
HE HELD THE MUNICIPALITY'S FUNERAL
Saniye Çelik, the head of Pınar Neighborhood in Seyhan district, chose an unusual method to express that they have not received services from the municipality. Claiming that the CHP-led Seyhan Municipality has not provided services for about 2 years, head Çelik held a funeral for the municipality in an unconventional ceremony in front of the muhtarlık building.
"WE HAVE COME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT THE MUNICIPALITY IS DE FACTO DEAD"
Stating that they have not received services from Seyhan Municipality, head Saniye Çelik said, "Our lives have been wasted for the past two years, we make phone calls, we apply with petitions. Due to the lack of any services, we have come to the conclusion that the municipality is de facto dead. Let's not waste our breath, they will not provide services. The president, vice president, and directors who do not provide services should not receive salaries for nothing. They should not be occupiers of their positions. Our lives are over, we cannot bring services."
"SEYHAN'S 96 NEIGHBORHOODS ARE IN A WORSE CONDITION"
Çelik said, "This is not only valid for Pınar Neighborhood. The 96 neighborhoods of Seyhan district are in a worse condition. We are desperate, we said let's not waste our breath, let's say the municipality is dead and get rid of it. One cannot expect help from the dead; can the dead do any work? No. Then we said the municipality is dead, let's lose hope. Should we wait like this for 3 years, will our authorities take action? We expect support from everyone, our ministers, our MPs, our governor, our district governor. The municipality is de facto dead, necessary actions should be taken."
