In Şişli, Istanbul, paper collector Mustafa Örün was arrested for strangling 6-year-old Şirin Elmas Hanilçi. In his statement at the police station, he calmly recounted the moment of the murder. Örün stated, "The child asked for 200 lira near the cemetery. When I didn't give it to him, he cursed at me. I got angry because I was already in a bad mood. I took the child into the cemetery. Inside the cemetery, I strangled him with a scarf that was on the girl, between two graves. I covered him with grass afterward."
The statement of Mustafa Örün (49), the murder suspect of 6-year-old Elmas Hanilçi, whose lifeless body was found in Şişli during the night, has emerged. Örün, who was arrested, stated in his testimony, "The child followed me and walked beside me. There, near the cemetery, the child asked for 200 lira. I got angry because I was in a bad mood. I took the child into the cemetery. Inside the cemetery, I strangled the girl with the scarf she was wearing between two graves. I covered her with grass," he said.
SHİRİN'S KILLER ARRESTED
Mustafa Örün, the murder suspect of 6-year-old Elmas Hanilçi, who went missing on October 31 in Şişli and was not heard from, was caught and taken into custody by police teams after the incident. It was learned that Mustafa Örün was a waste collector, and in his first statement at the police station, he confessed to committing the act inside Feriköy Cemetery. It was also learned that Örün had a prior criminal record. After his procedures at the police station, he was sent to the on-duty magistrate's court by the on-duty prosecutor with a request for arrest. The suspect Örün was arrested by the on-duty magistrate's court and sent to prison.
IDENTIFIED FROM SECURITY CAMERAS
Teams examining the nearby security camera footage determined that Elmas Hanilçi was walking with Mustafa Örün, and that the individual turned alone towards Şişli Square from the vicinity of the cemetery, confirming that the missing girl had exited the footage.

The murder suspect was arrested and sent to prison for the crimes of "qualified sexual assault on a child" and "intentional murder of a child." It was also learned that a search operation would be conducted at the shack where the suspect stayed in Şişli.
