The new minimum wage has been announced as 22,104 TL, and all calculations have changed from top to bottom.

25.12.2024 08:51

The minimum wage for the year 2025 has been announced as 22,104 TL, and President Erdoğan issued a message saying, "May it be beneficial for our country and our nation," regarding the 30% increase. The figure that emerged from the meeting, which TÜRK-İŞ did not attend, results in an employer's monthly cost of 30,556.46 TL. Additionally, payments and fees in various categories, including unemployment benefits and General Health Insurance (GSS) premiums, have also changed. Here are the details...

The Minister of Labor and Social Security, Vedat Işıkhan, announced the result of the Minimum Wage Determination Commission's work to determine the minimum wage for the new year at a meeting held at the Ministry with the participation of worker and employer delegations. A 30% increase was made to the minimum wage, raising it to 22,104 TL.

Stating that the minimum wage does not represent a general wage level but rather the lowest wage level, Işıkhan said, "The essential thing is that every worker receives the value of their labor in accordance with the nature of the work they do. For our employers, it is also a right to compensate labor at its true value."

"TURKEY IS NOW IN A SERIOUS DEFLATIONARY PROCESS"

Emphasizing that every wage given fairly increases the prosperity and productivity of businesses, Işıkhan stated, "As the AK Party government, we have placed social justice, labor, and solidarity at the center of our development policies for 22 years. Under the leadership of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, we aim for a future where economic growth, as well as social solidarity and welfare, are strengthened in line with the vision of the Century of Turkey. As you know, our country is increasingly solidifying its economic stability with fiscal discipline and balanced growth policies to quickly eliminate the effects of the global and regional problems, disasters, and pandemics we have recently faced. Additionally, I would like to emphasize that Turkey is now in a serious deflationary process. Our most important goal is to protect and increase the purchasing power of all segments of society, especially fixed-income earners, without making a distinction between workers, employers, civil servants, and retirees, and to make the prosperity we have achieved permanent. In this process, while taking steps to raise the welfare level of our citizens, we are also waging a determined struggle against exorbitant price increases."

"WORK WAS CARRIED OUT WITH A CONSTRUCTIVE UNDERSTANDING"

Highlighting that they do not want to enter a cycle where wage increases evaporate on supermarket shelves and in markets, Işıkhan stated, "We are working to ensure that every penny that goes into our employees' pockets retains its true value. Therefore, we must act in a balanced and measured manner to protect fiscal discipline and ensure that the fight against inflation is not harmed." Işıkhan expressed that the minimum wage determination process was carried out within the framework of a social dialogue mechanism, stating, "The work has been conducted with a truly constructive understanding among all our commission members. I believe we have successfully managed this process together, which increases the welfare of our employees, protects the competitiveness of our employers, and strengthens our country's economic stability and social development."

"MINIMUM WAGE SUPPORT INCREASED TO 1000 TL"

Minister Işıkhan recalled that in 2024, the net minimum wage was implemented as 17,002 TL with the 700 TL minimum wage support provided by the state, stating, "We have determined the net minimum wage, which will be valid from January 1, 2025, as 22,104 TL. We have also increased the minimum wage support we provide as a state for each minimum wage earner from 700 TL to 1000 TL. May it be beneficial and auspicious for our country and our esteemed nation."

"A 30% INCREASE COMPARED TO THE PREVIOUS YEAR"

Conveying that this figure represents a 30% increase in the net minimum wage compared to the previous year, Minister Işıkhan also stated that they have raised the minimum wage to nearly four times its real value since 2002. Işıkhan said, "Our state will continue to stand by its workers, employers, and all citizens with all its institutions and organizations. The Century of Turkey will continue to advance with determined steps in the spirit of unity and solidarity of its workers, producers, employers, and investors."
