Venezuela's Acting President Delcy Rodriguez announced that the number of deaths from the earthquakes has risen to 589, and the number of injured to 2,980.
Venezuela's Interim President Delcy Rodriguez provided information on the latest situation following two major earthquakes that struck the country. Stating that the number of people who lost their lives in the earthquakes rose to 589, Rodriguez noted that the number of injured also increased to 2,980.
Stating that search and rescue efforts continue, Rodriguez said, "We will rescue those trapped under the rubble. We are working tirelessly for this."
Rodriguez pointed out that the region most severely affected by the earthquakes was La Guaira state, emphasizing that security forces were dispatched to the region to accelerate search and rescue operations and ensure the distribution of food and water.
TWO EARTHQUAKES OCCURRED IN SUCCESSION
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported yesterday that two earthquakes of magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5 occurred in Venezuela, 39 seconds apart.
The USGS announced that a 7.5 magnitude earthquake occurred 23 kilometers southeast of the city of Yumare in Yaracuy state, and a 7.2 magnitude earthquake occurred 24 kilometers northeast of the city of San Felipe in the same state.
Information was shared that the depth of the earthquake was 10 kilometers in Yumare and 21.9 kilometers in San Felipe.
As search and rescue efforts continue in Venezuela, there are concerns that the number of dead and injured may increase.
