It has emerged that CHP leader Ozgur Ozel's request for a meeting was rejected after Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez's plane made an emergency landing in Ankara due to a technical issue while flying from Madrid to Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, yesterday.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, who was en route to attend the 8th Summit of the European Political Community in Yerevan, Armenia, made an emergency landing. The Communication Secretariat stated that the plane carrying Sanchez was forced to make an emergency landing in Ankara due to an "unforeseen" technical issue.
SANCHEZ REJECTS OZGUR OZEL
Following this development, CHP Chairman Ozgur Ozel sought a meeting with Sanchez. However, Ozel's request was rejected. Making a post on social media regarding the issue, Editor-in-Chief of Millet Haber Sinan Burhan said, "After the plane that landed in Ankara due to a malfunction yesterday, an attempt was made to arrange a meeting. CHP Secretary-General Selin Sayek Boke and her deputy Sule Bucak contacted Sanchez's team, but Sanchez rejected the request. In fact, Ozgur Ozel and his team proposed meeting 'as the President of the Socialist International, not as the Spanish Prime Minister,' but this was also not accepted."
LATE ARRIVAL TO THE SUMMIT
Meanwhile, Sanchez and accompanying officials, who spent the night in Ankara, left their hotel in the morning. After the technical issue was resolved, the plane carrying the delegation departed from Ankara to Yerevan.
