The 38th Ordinary Istanbul Provincial Congress of the CHP was annulled by a court decision. Provincial Chairman Özgür Çelik and his administration were dismissed, and a temporary management was appointed under the leadership of Gürsel Tekin. With this decision, the delegacy of 196 congress delegates was also revoked. This development will also be decisive for the outcome of the CHP Grand Congress on September 15.
The developments in Istanbul within the CHP have made a significant impact on the political agenda. With the court ruling, the 38th Ordinary Istanbul Provincial Congress of the CHP was annulled, and Provincial Chairman Özgür Çelik and his administration were removed from their positions. According to the decision made by the 45th Civil Court of First Instance in Istanbul, in addition to Özgür Çelik, the main and substitute members of the Provincial Board of Directors and the main and substitute members of the Provincial Disciplinary Board were also dismissed from their duties.
INTERIM MANAGEMENT APPOINTED
The court temporarily appointed former MP Gürsel Tekin, who previously held this position, as the interim chairman of the CHP Istanbul Provincial Organization. An interim management team consisting of Zeki Şen, Hasan Babacan, Müjdat Gürbüz, and Erkan Narsap was also assigned.
DELEGATES ALSO REMOVED FROM DUTY
With the ruling, it was announced that 196 congress delegates who voted in the Istanbul Provincial Congress were also removed from their positions. It was claimed that the delegates' will was changed in exchange for material benefits.
THE GRAND CONGRESS IS ALSO AT RISK
This decision indicates that the case related to the CHP Grand Congress, which will be held on September 15, may also result in a similar manner. Because in the decision regarding the Istanbul Provincial Congress, the delegate status of the 196 delegates who voted in the Grand Congress was annulled. These delegates, whose will was found to have been changed in exchange for material benefits, voted in the grand congress. Kılıçdaroğlu lost the election by 18 votes. This situation alone undermines the outcome of the Grand Congress.
