The veil of mystery surrounding the suspicious death of Selin Yalın, the cousin of the famous singer Yalın, who passed away last April in a luxury residence in Kartal, Istanbul, has been lifted. The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office disproved the claim of 'accident' in the investigation with the report from the Forensic Medicine Institution.

The curtain has been lifted on the investigation into the suspicious death of famous singer Yalın's cousin, Selin Yalın, who passed away last April in a luxury residence in Kartal, Istanbul.

The horrific incident occurred on April 26, when Selin Yalın (40) was found dead in the residence she lived in. Ömer Öktem (47), a married man and father of three, shot and killed Selin Yalın (39), a beautician and cousin of singer Yalın, with a gun. Öktem called Yalın's brother-in-law, Mesut Toğay, claiming that Selin had committed suicide. When the police arrived at the scene, they found Selin lying on her back on the couch with a gun in her hand.

CONFESSED TO MURDER

Öktem claimed that during an argument, he pulled out the gun and fired it at the wall, and then removed the bullets from the magazine, during which Selin took the gun and committed suicide. However, Öktem, who was taken to the police station and reportedly confessed to the murder, was arrested.

REPORT DISPROVING THE ACCIDENT CLAIM

According to a report in Sözcü, Öktem, who did not accept the police records, stated in the prosecutor's office, "I did not intentionally kill Selin. The gun went off suddenly while I was trying to take it, and Selin collapsed onto the couch. I did not put the gun in her hand. I did not want to make it look like a suicide." The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office disproved Ömer Öktem's 'accident' claim with a report from the Forensic Medicine Institution. The Forensic Medicine stated that the shot was fired from close range, and the prosecutor's office, which reviewed the report, explained its opinion as follows: "Considering the shooting distance, the nature of the weapon used, and the area of injury, it was determined that he acted with the intent to kill."
