It is expected that the retirement bonus will be increased by 25% to 5,000 TL before the Ramadan Feast in 2026. However, there is a possibility that the amount may rise to 5,500 or 6,000 TL with the intervention of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
During the days of Ramadan, approximately 17 million retirees and beneficiaries are focused on the bonus amount to be paid before the Ramadan Feast in 2026. SGK Chief Advisor İsa Karakaş shared evaluations regarding the figure the economic management is working on and discussed possible scenarios.
RAMADAN FEAST STARTS ON MARCH 20
The Ramadan Feast in 2026 will begin on Friday, March 20. As the feast date approaches, retirees are curious about when and at what level the bonus amount will be announced. The government is expected to clarify the figure in the coming days.
EMPHASIS ON "UNSURPRISING" INCREASE
SGK Chief Advisor İsa Karakaş stated that the increase rate could be around 25% in line with current economic conditions and budget balances. Karakaş mentioned that if there is no political intervention in the final stage, retirees will face an increase that is not surprising.
APPLICATION STARTED IN 2018
The holiday bonus application started in 2018 at 1,000 TL. The government gradually increased the amount in subsequent years. The bonus, which rose to 1,100 TL in 2021, increased to 2,000 TL in 2023, 3,000 TL in 2024, and 4,000 TL in 2025.
5,000 TL FORMULA ON THE TABLE
If the economic management bases its calculations on a 25% increase formula, the holiday bonus of 4,000 TL will rise to 5,000 TL. This scenario is emerging as the strongest possibility in the discussions.
ERDOĞAN MAY INTERVENE
Karakaş indicated that if President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan intervenes in the process, different figures could come to the agenda. In this case, the option of 5,500 TL comes to the forefront, while the 6,000 TL level could also be considered, albeit with a low probability. The economic management will announce the final amount to the public after completing its work.
