After Ece Güler was found, her husband Sezer Gürel shared his first feelings, saying, "I was relieved when I saw my wife." Gürel added, "May God be pleased with everyone, thank you. At least I was relieved when I saw my wife, thank God she was found safe."
"WE THANK YOU ALL"
Ece Gürel's mother, Gülşen Koçoğlu, said, "We thank everyone who searched and inquired. We haven't seen her yet, but she has been found up there, we thank you all. May God be pleased a thousand times."
WHEN WE FIRST FOUND HER, HER LIPS WERE TREMBLING
Turan Altun, a volunteer from the search and rescue team who found Ece Gürel and came to the hospital to monitor her health, recounted the events. Altun said, "When we first found her, her lips were trembling."
"SHE CALLED OUT 6 MINUTES AFTER HER BODY WARMED UP"
Turan Altun, a volunteer from the Neighborhood Disaster Volunteers-Emergency Response Association (MAG-AME), stated, "When we first found her, her lips were trembling, and her eyes were open. But since 72 hours had passed, her body was completely frozen. We spread a thermal blanket over her and gave her our jackets. Six minutes after her body warmed up, she started to call out and scream. We felt that her nerves were intact, and her screaming was a sign of that. We were very happy. We carried her to the normal road, which was 2 kilometers away," he said.
"I SHOUTED THAT SHE WAS FOUND"
Turan Altun, who stated that he arrived at the area around 21:00 to participate in the search, said, "They gave us coordinates from 05:00 to 13:00. We searched at the 6th and 7th coordinates, and there were a total of 16 of us, spaced 5 meters apart. Four riot police teams ensured our safety. We conducted area scanning with a total of 30-meter openings. As the Neighborhood Disaster Volunteers-Emergency Response Association, we have been actively volunteering in these kinds of operations for a long time. I was side by side with my teammate in the field. I shouted that she was found. As the Neighborhood Disaster Volunteers-Emergency Response teams, we have been receiving this training for a long time. We worked in the field according to how it should be done correctly," he expressed.
HOW DID SHE SURVIVE?
On the other hand, Yusuf Ahmet Kulca, the leader of the Neighborhood Disaster Volunteers-Emergency Response Association team, responded to the question, "How could Ece Gürel survive for 4 days?" by saying, "The weather is cold. There has been no food or water for 4 days; we can say that the forest protected her."
