The details of the chilling murder of a woman in Erzurum are heartbreaking. Salih Aybaş, who had been imprisoned for years after stabbing Nermin Tirit, whom he had become obsessed with, was released on leave from prison and murdered the woman in front of her house with three gunshots. The information that S.A. was on leave was communicated by the relevant penal institution to our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and the Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Policies, and also informed to the victim N.T. by law enforcement on October 22, 2025. N.T. conveyed to law enforcement that she did not have any request for protective measures. It was determined through crime scene examination and camera footage that S.A. was supposed to return to the penal institution at 10:00 on November 3, 2025, but committed the alleged crime around 07:30," it was stated.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Salih Aybaş, who was sentenced to 12 years and 6 months in prison for 'attempted murder' and 'harassment' at the Erzurum 3rd Heavy Penal Court, previously chased Nermin Tirit, whom he had previously stabbed and was known to be obsessed with, in front of her house and then shot her dead in the garden of the site. The man fired multiple shots at Nermin Tirit as she left her house for work and then committed suicide with the same gun.

Upon notification, a large number of police and medical personnel were dispatched to the scene. After the crime scene investigation, the lifeless bodies of Salih Aybaş and Nermin Tirit were taken to the Erzurum Forensic Medicine Institution for autopsy.
