The details of the chilling murder of a woman in Erzurum are heartbreaking. Salih Aybaş, who had been imprisoned for years after stabbing Nermin Tirit, whom he had become obsessed with, was released on leave from prison and murdered the woman in front of her house with three gunshots. It was also revealed that the suspect, Salih Aybaş, was on leave from prison and that the murdered woman had not requested any protective measures.
Salih Aybaş, who previously stabbed and injured Nermin Tirit, with whom he worked at the same institution in Erzurum and was obsessed with, shot and killed the woman in front of her house with a gun after being released on leave from prison, and then committed suicide. MURDERED WITH 3 BULLETS In a statement made by the Erzurum Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the matter, it was stated, "On November 3, 2025, a murder and suicide incident occurred in the Ömer Nasuhi Bilmen Neighborhood. Due to the sharing of information on some news sites and media outlets, a press release was deemed necessary to inform the public correctly. It was reported that a person named S.A. shot three times at a person named N.T. with a gun, causing her death, and then committed suicide by shooting himself in the chest. Following this report, our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office immediately initiated an investigation, conducted crime scene examination procedures, reviewed camera footage of the scene, and sent the bodies for autopsy to the Forensic Medicine Institution," it was stated.
IT WAS REPORTED THAT HE WAS ON LEAVE, NO REQUEST FOR MEASURES WAS MADE In the statement from the Erzurum Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was noted that according to the initial findings of the investigation, there was a prior enmity between S.A. and N.T., and it continued, "S.A. was serving a sentence in Erzurum Open Penal Institution for the attempted murder of N.T. on January 20, 2023. S.A. left the penal institution on legal leave for 11 days at 10:00 on October 23, 2025. The information that S.A. was on leave was communicated by the relevant penal institution to our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and the Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Policies, and also informed to the victim N.T. by law enforcement on October 22, 2025. N.T. conveyed to law enforcement that she did not have any request for protective measures. It was determined through crime scene examination and camera footage that S.A. was supposed to return to the penal institution at 10:00 on November 3, 2025, but committed the alleged crime around 07:30," it was stated.
"BEING EVALUATED WITH GREAT CARE AND SENSITIVITY" It was emphasized that the investigation being conducted to uncover the material truth is being carried out effectively, comprehensively, and meticulously, stating, "All evidence and findings obtained within the scope of the investigation are being evaluated and examined with great care and sensitivity."
WHAT HAPPENED? Salih Aybaş, who was sentenced to 12 years and 6 months in prison for 'attempted murder' and 'harassment' at the Erzurum 3rd Heavy Penal Court, previously chased Nermin Tirit, whom he had previously stabbed and was known to be obsessed with, in front of her house and then shot her dead in the garden of the site. The man fired multiple shots at Nermin Tirit as she left her house for work and then committed suicide with the same gun.
Upon notification, a large number of police and medical personnel were dispatched to the scene. After the crime scene investigation, the lifeless bodies of Salih Aybaş and Nermin Tirit were taken to the Erzurum Forensic Medicine Institution for autopsy.
The police investigation and inquiry regarding the incident are ongoing.
