"A SEASONAL EVENT"
İbrahim Pehlivanoğlu, the President of the Süleymanpaşa Fisheries Cooperative, stated that the washing ashore of the red algae is related to the natural cycle of the sea, saying, "With the blowing of the north wind, these algae from the bottom of the sea have resurfaced. This event appears seasonally during these months."
"THERE IS NO HARM OR ISSUE"
Pehlivanoğlu continued his remarks as follows: "There is no problem for fish. Our citizens should not be worried about this. With a change in the direction of the wind, that is, with the Karayel or with rain, these will sink back to the bottom of the sea. We encounter this situation every year during these seasons, meaning it is a seasonal event. There are both green and red algae at the bottom of the sea. It is an algae produced by the sea itself. There is no harm or issue for citizens or fish."
