A cleaning staff member employed by the municipality in Uşak took a bag he found on the ground, which was determined to contain valuable items, instead of handing it over to the authorities and left the scene. Following the owner's report, an investigation initiated by the security forces identified the staff member through security cameras, and his employment contract was terminated.
A cleaning staff member working for the Uşak Municipality was dismissed after taking a bag containing valuable items that he found on the street instead of reporting it to the authorities. Mayor Özkan Yalım emphasized "ethical values" and instructed that the staff member be terminated after the incident was clarified.
CAMERA RECORDINGS REVEALED THE TRUTH
According to the information obtained, the incident occurred on İsmetpaşa Street, one of the busiest points in the city. The staff member found an abandoned plastic bag on the ground while cleaning. Instead of reporting the bag, which was learned to contain valuable items, to his superiors or the security forces, the staff member left the area with the bag.
POLICE FOLLOW-UP YIELDED RESULTS
Upon the application of the citizen who lost his bag, the Uşak Provincial Police Department teams launched a comprehensive investigation. The teams, examining the security cameras in the area one by one, determined that the bag was taken by a cleaning worker affiliated with the municipality and was kept instead of being returned to its owner.
MAYOR YALIM'S INSTRUCTION
The information identified by the police units was conveyed to the Uşak Municipality. After the matter was reported to him, Uşak Mayor Özkan Yalım immediately initiated an investigation, stating that the staff member's behavior was against the municipality's ethical principles and was a trust-damaging act, and instructed that the employment contract be terminated.
EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT TERMINATED
After the official procedures conducted within the municipality, it was announced that the staff member who did not return the valuable items he found was dismissed. Municipal officials emphasized that similar situations undermine the institution's reliability and that there would be no tolerance for such cases.
