While the BIST 100 index increased by 321.78 points compared to the previous close, the total trading volume reached 175.4 billion lira.
HISTORICAL RECORD AT BORSA ISTANBUL
Borsa Istanbul has broken another historical record. The BIST 100 index ended the day with a record level of 12,023.78 points, gaining 2.75 percent. The banking index increased by 1.78 percent, while the holding index rose by 2.11 percent. Among the sector indices, the transportation sector was the highest gainer with 3.23 percent, while the textile and leather sector was the biggest loser with 2.50 percent.
POSITIVE TREND IN GLOBAL MARKETS
Global markets are trending positively due to the continued optimism regarding artificial intelligence and technology companies, as well as the rise in oil and defense industry companies following the U.S. military intervention in Venezuela. Domestically, the BIST 100 index finished the day positively above the 12,000 points record level, influenced by high-volume purchases in stocks with high index weights, in addition to these developments.
The real effective exchange rate (REK) index announced by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) decreased by 0.68 points to 71.11 in December based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
Analysts stated that the data agenda will be calm domestically tomorrow, while abroad, a busy data agenda will be followed, including unemployment rates in Germany, inflation in the Eurozone, and ADP private sector employment and JOLTS job openings in the U.S. They also expressed that, from a technical perspective, the resistance levels for the BIST 100 index are at 12,100 and 12,200 points, while the support levels are at 11,900 and 11,800 points.
