I didn't even go to their residence."

In the Fethiye district of Muğla, Özcan Aybey (42), who killed his father-in-law Şükrü Aysu (53), mother-in-law Adile Aysu (52), and Muhammet Akbaba (49), and injured Esat Ulu and Serdar Genç, changed his statement during the trial from what he had given during the investigation. Aybey, who had previously confessed to committing the murders, said, "I did not kill my father-in-law, my mother-in-law, and Muhammet Akbaba. I didn't even go to their residence."

The incident occurred on June 29 at around 07:00 in the Kayaköy neighborhood. Özcan Aybey went to the front of the house of his father-in-law Şükrü Aysu, who is the father of his wife Nazlı Aybey (25), with whom he was in the process of divorce. A dispute broke out between Aybey and his father-in-law Şükrü Aysu. Hearing the voices, Şükrü Aysu's wife Adile Aysu also came outside. The argument quickly escalated into a fight. During this time, Özcan Aybey fired repeatedly at his father-in-law Şükrü Aysu and mother-in-law Adile Aysu with the gun he had brought and fled. His wife Nazlı Aybey, who was at home and heard the gunshots, reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Following the report, many health and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the area. Health teams determined that the Aysu couple had lost their lives.

SHOT 3 MORE PEOPLE

Özcan Aybey, who fled the scene, went to another villa and shot Muhammet Akbaba, who was working there. The suspect then went to the house where Esat Ulu and Serdar Genç lived. Aybey, seeing them with a gun in his hand, injured Ulu and Genç, with whom he had a dispute, and fled in his car. The injured Akbaba, Ulu, and Genç were taken to a private hospital in the district for treatment. Akbaba lost his life, while the other two injured were discharged after their treatments.

CAR FOUND ABANDONED

Police teams that started working on the incident found the car that Aybey had fled in abandoned in the forest in the Çalış area. Teams that intensified their efforts in this area captured Özcan Aybey. In his first statement, it was learned that Aybey had problems with his wife, which he saw as being caused by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, and that he shot them and the intervening Muhammet Akbaba out of anger during the fight. While the funerals were being buried, the suspect was arrested after his procedures.

3 TIMES AGGRAVATED LIFE SENTENCE REQUESTED

An indictment was prepared against Özcan Aybey by the Fethiye Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. The indictment included details about how the defendant Aybey committed the murders. It was stated that he killed his father-in-law and mother-in-law due to jealousy of his wife, injured Esat Ulu, and injured Serdar Genç, who was with him, and that he killed Muhammet Akbaba solely to have killed someone, despite having no previous enmity. In the indictment, it was requested that the defendant Özcan Aybey be sentenced to 3 times aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of 'deliberate killing with monstrous feelings' and up to 15 years in prison for the crime of 'attempted murder' twice. The trial of the detained defendant Özcan Aybey began at the Fethiye 3rd High Criminal Court. "I RECEIVED OPPOSITE RESPONSES TO MY REQUESTS FOR MEETINGS"

Defendant Aybey stated that he had come to the side of his father-in-law Şükrü Aysu's house two days before the incident and said, "'Clear out my house.' We started to argue. My wife Nazlı and I had no problems. She also came outside. I called the Gendarmerie Commander. The teams came. My father-in-law tried to take my wife and child away. The gendarmerie said, 'We will go to the police station.' When I went to the police station to give a statement, I learned that my wife had filed a complaint against me and that a restraining order had been issued, which made me very sad at that moment. The day before the incident, during a conversation with the family, they said they would not let me see the child and that they would take the child themselves. During this time, I had someone intervene, and I conveyed my requests for meetings, but I received opposite responses. I was desperate to see my child and talk to my wife. While these tensions were happening, S.T., whom I had given to the enforcement for my debt, came. Since he knew what I had been through, he said to me, 'I will take care of your business.' That night we were in the car together. I must have fallen asleep in the car. In the morning, someone knocked on the window. I don't know who it was. He said, 'S.T. has taken care of your business,' dropped the gun, and left. I was already half asleep. Meanwhile, I heard that a person named Esat would take my wife and child to Istanbul. I went to his house. When I came out, I shouted, 'Is Nazlı here? Is my child here?' He shot at me with a gun. I was ready to shoot. I also shot. I did not shoot the person named Serdar Genç there. I later learned that there was another person from the gendarmerie. I did not kill my father-in-law, mother-in-law, and Muhammet Akbaba. I didn't even go to their residence. If the times are checked, it is not possible for me to be in 3-4 different places within 5 minutes," he said.

VICTIM'S LAWYERS OBJECTED

The victim's lawyers stated that the defendant made a defense based on concrete evidence to escape the crime and objected to the statements of the defendant Aybey. H.A., the daughter of the murdered Muhammet Akbaba, said that after her father was injured, he crawled to the neighbors and gave a description of the defendant Aybey. H.A. stated that the family received psychological support due to the incident and that they were in a very difficult situation both financially and morally. After hearing the parties, the court decided to continue the detention of the defendant Özcan Aybey and postponed the hearing.
