A colleague who stabbed and killed a garbage truck driver in Antalya turned himself in to the gendarmerie. The arrested suspect stated in his testimony that he was disturbed by the victim's behavior and speech, that he drove very fast, and that he did not heed the warnings he gave about being careful in his conversations. He confessed that he had made up his mind to kill him as a result and expressed that he did not feel remorse.

Yesterday (October 9) in Antalya, Gökhan Mutlu, who worked as a sanitation worker under the Manavgat Municipality's Cleaning Affairs Directorate, went out to collect garbage in the morning with Nurullah G. and Mehmet Özkaynak. Mutlu stabbed and killed garbage truck driver Özkaynak in the throat on the Sülek-Hacısali road.

"WHEN I OPENED THE DOOR, I SAW HIM LYING ON THE SEAT"

Eyewitness Nurullah G. stated in his testimony, "As I got out of the vehicle and headed to collect garbage, I heard noises coming from the truck. I came back to see what was happening. Mehmet Özkaynak and Gökhan Mutlu were struggling in the cabin of the truck. When I opened the door, I saw the driver Mehmet Özkaynak lying on the seat. At that moment, Gökhan Mutlu had fled," he said.

SURRENDERED TO THE GENDARMERIE

After fleeing the scene, Gökhan M. later went to a road control point located about 5 kilometers from the incident site in the Hacıobası neighborhood and surrendered to the gendarmerie teams. After his procedures at the Manavgat District Gendarmerie Command Central Gendarmerie Station, the suspect was transferred to the Manavgat Courthouse, where his statement to the prosecutor's office was revealed.

PLANNED THE MURDER IN ADVANCE

It was learned that Gökhan Mutlu stated that Mehmet Özkaynak's speech and behavior disturbed him, and that he drove the vehicle very fast. He mentioned that Özkaynak did not heed his warnings to pay attention to his speech and to drive the truck slowly.

The suspect, who stated that he had made up his mind to kill Özkaynak because he did not heed his warnings, was reported to have implemented his plan when they arrived in the forested area in the morning and said he had no regrets. Mutlu was arrested by the court he was brought before and was delivered to the Manavgat S Type Closed and Open Penal Institution located in Ilıca Neighborhood.
