The Turkish engineer on the ship departing from Indonesia has disappeared without a trace.

Mechanical engineer Doğukan Demirtaş started his duty as the 4th engineer on the cargo ship named 'Valentina 1' on September 10. It was understood that Demirtaş, who was on a ship departing from Indonesia and heading to Singapore, went missing on December 17.

SEARCH OPERATION INITIATED

The crew searched the entire ship but could not find Demirtaş. A search operation was initiated for Demirtaş. Despite the efforts of nearby ships and coast guard teams, the engineer could not be reached. The search operations that started in the Flores Island region off the coast of Indonesia were halted after 7 days due to adverse weather conditions.

It was also stated that Demirtaş last spoke with his family by phone on December 16 at 1:42 PM.

Önder Demirtaş, the father of Demirtaş, who works as a taxi driver in the central district of Menteşe in Muğla, said, "It is noticed that he is not on the ship because he did not come off his shift. The entire area is being searched. On December 18, they sent a message to my younger son Atakan via Instagram. Since my son is in the military, he immediately called me and explained the situation. I called the company. The officials said they could not find him on the ship, that he was missing, and that they were in correspondence with the Indonesian Embassy. Search operations were conducted at sea for 7 days. Statements were taken from personnel in Singapore and Liberia. We continue to wait with hope. We are following up on the matter. We have no doubts. He was dreaming about the future. The last time we spoke was on December 16. I asked, 'What are you doing, my beautiful son?' He was fine. I expect the authorities to help find my son as soon as possible. It has been 3 months since he started working on the ship. He signed a 6-month contract," he said.
