The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) announced the unemployment figures for the month of October.

According to the data announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in October was 8.8%.

According to the results of the Household Labor Force Survey, the number of unemployed individuals aged 15 and older increased by 61,000 compared to the previous month, reaching 3 million 175 thousand in October 2024. The unemployment rate increased by 0.1 percentage points, standing at 8.8%. The unemployment rate was estimated to be 6.9% for men and 12.3% for women.

SEASONALLY ADJUSTED EMPLOYMENT RATE WAS 49.9%

The number of employed individuals increased by 156,000 compared to the previous month, reaching 32 million 970 thousand in October 2024, while the employment rate rose by 0.2 percentage points to 49.9%. This rate was 67.4% for men and 32.8% for women.

SEASONALLY ADJUSTED LABOR FORCE PARTICIPATION RATE WAS 54.7%

The labor force increased by 219,000 compared to the previous month, reaching 36 million 146 thousand in October 2024, and the labor force participation rate rose by 0.3 percentage points to 54.7%. The participation rate was 72.4% for men and 37.4% for women.

SEASONALLY ADJUSTED UNEMPLOYMENT RATE AMONG YOUNG POPULATION WAS 16.6%

The unemployment rate among the young population aged 15-24 decreased by 0.3 percentage points compared to the previous month, standing at 16.6%. The unemployment rate in this age group was estimated to be 12.6% for men and 23.9% for women.
